Over 50’s Bicycle Gang is James Ó hAodha’s new collaborative project for Bealtaine 2014

Bealtaine Festival of creativity as we age is looking for interested participants to create an “Over 50s” Bicycle Gang, with artist James Ó hAodha. Marking the arrival of the Giro D’Italia bicycle race to Ireland, this creative project will bring a group of people together for a live event in Phoenix Park on Saturday May 10th.

Be part of this exclusive group, and work together to earn some ‘street-cred’! This event is brought to you by Dublin City Council and Age and Opportunity.

Participants will:

Take part in a series of group cycles and guided workshops
Explore aspects of urban cycling, communication and self-organisation
Meet new people and work together to create a visual identity for the gang.
Participate in an outdoor public event in Phoenix Park on Saturday May 10th as part of Bealtaine Festival
Explore the creativity of mischief-making, and what is seen as the antisocial side of adolescent gang culture
Work together on and test out a series of group actions and gestures in preparation for the event

Getting involved:
Free workshops will take place weekdays, from Wednesday 30th April – dates are flexible.
Bicycles can be provided if necessary.
Limited places available, so please register early to avoid disappointment!
