IN THE MAKING: 10 Years of Ormond Art Studios

Ormond Art Studios is delighted to announce our Ten Year Anniversary exhibition, “In The Making”! Join us on the 28th of November from 6pm in the beautiful Dublin Civic Trust Building at 18 Ormond Quay for the launch!

The show is a celebration of the work that has been produced within the studio, past and present. We, the members, thought it was important to take a moment to look back and appreciate those who have been a part of this space, from its founding ten years ago, and in the various steps throughout the years that have brought us to where we are now.

The showcased work is by current studio members, whose wide range of practices reflect the varied nature of a space like Ormond, and its history of providing a platform for work across multiple fine art disciplines. The show looks to catch a glimpse of the studio in its current iteration, and ultimately, looks forward with high hopes for the future of Ormond, hoping to continue to provide a base for emerging artists in Dublin to grow their practices.

The show will be open daily until the 1st of December. We hope to see you all there!

Please find all details at our Facebook event page here.

Ormond Art Studios is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.

Alex Keatinge | Checking In | Graduate Residency Award 2019 Solo Exhibtion

Ormond Art Studios are pleased to present ‘Checking In’, the first solo exhibition by 2019 Graduate Residency Award recipient Alex Keatinge. We would be delighted if you could join us for the opening reception on Thursday 26th September from 5pm. The exhibition continues Friday 27th -Sunday 29th September from 12-5pm daily.

‘Checking In’ is an exploration of bodily and mental tension and the trials and tribulations that exist within self-care. It is an attempt to capture self-consciousness and a hyperawareness of the body that often leaves a gap between the body and the self.

Alex Keatinge graduated with a BA in Visual Arts from IADT in 2019. She was longlisted for the RDS Visual Arts Awards and is the recipient of the Ormond Art Studios Graduate Residecny Award 2019. Alex’s practice begins at the boundary of the skin, it is concerned with the intimate space of the body – its oddities, sensations and discomfort. Through the creation of tactile objects and photographs that invite a bodily response, she investigates the gap between person and object, the hand and the artwork. Oftentimes her work is about exaggerating this gap in order to explore how something can be both familiar and strange at the same time and how this can also apply to the body. By using a method of reform and remove, she creates works that pace the line between knowingness and uncertainty.
You can find the Facebook event for the exhibition here.
