Ormond Studios is pleased to present Neil Carroll as part of the Ormond Studios Graduate Programme, a platform for graduate artists to develop their practice and explore the ideas surrounding it. The selected artists from IADT, NCAD, DIT and Crawford participate in a month long residency which culminates in a solo show at Ormond Studios.
During his residency at the Ormond Studios Neil Carroll will create a 360 degree wall painting through which he will further investigate his theme of de/construction by combining the age-old technique of mural painting with the signature rectilinear forms of modern architecture in an effort to expand the boundaries of a room into a distant past and far-off future. This is an impromptu and experimental response to the given space, which will be continuously shaped and re-shaped for the duration of the residency. The room will be open to the public for viewing, commentary and debate for the last two days of the residency.
Neil Carroll is a Dublin based artist who graduated from NCAD in 2010. Past exhibitions include “Monster Truck Christmas Extravaganza” at Monster Truck Gallery and Studios, Dublin (December 2010) and more recently “Working Backwards” at The Joinery, Dublin in February of this year.
The Ormond Studio Graduate Programme received financial support of The Arts Council.
