This body of work questions what it means to be here now in relation to ‘before’ and ‘after’ and whether one has any bearing on the other. The installations, sculptures and prints examine potential by staging a moment that dangles in the space between reality and fiction, action and reaction, before and after, while always being carried by humour. Situations are constructed with found materials that allow an object to arrive at a different solution. These constructions can manifest as printed matter or sculptural form. Their physicality is grossly amplified and exaggerated transforming the object into a parody of itself; this draws attention to the liminal space they occupy and the point at which ‘one’ becomes ‘another’.
While theatrical, the objects and characters are essentially familiar, affording a sense of the uncanny. The work requires the viewer to make sense of the possible stories and connect loose ends or work them into or out of a knot.
