New Additions to Ormond Art Studios

In the past few months, we have had a couple of new members join. Welcome to the studio, Anna Stuart, Sinead Kampff, and Holly Pickering!

Anna Stuart

Anna Stuart is a visual artist currently based in Dublin, having graduated with First Class Honours from the BA Art programme at IADT, Dun Laoghaire. Encompassing a variety of media, her practice explores a philosophy where parameters rather than outcomes are set for works. Often being described as scenarios, her works evolve together with their environment and offer a visual investigation into time, phenomena and the potential chain of actions and unknown reactions that occur when living systems come into contact. This methodology has taken many forms, including the exploration of the alchemic qualities of minerals such as salt, as well as the fabrication of a non-digital, experiential helmet. Inspired by the everyday coexistence between the human and non-human environment, Anna’s practice is driven by her fascination with time and a desire to explore new areas of art making as a way of observing and engaging with the world.

Sinead Kampff

Sinead Kampff is an artist based in Dublin, Ireland. She recently graduated with a degree in Fine Art Painting from the National College of Art and Design. Her work explores the concept surrounding abandonment, which manifests mainly in the abandonment of buildings. Her practice involves painting and sculptural pieces.

Holly Pickering

Holly Pickering (b.1998) is an artist based in Dublin. Her oeuvre is concerned with interrogating language structures inherent in both the corporeal act of speech and in written material, meditating upon the physical effect of language upon the body and the relationship between language and how we navigate ourselves throughout the world. Her practice is multi-disciplinary, encompassing film, sound and sculptural installations often oriented around experimental texts and fictional narratives. Film, literary forms, and poetry are central to her practice.

Ormond Art Studios is an artist-led initiative in Dublin city and is a platform for emerging visual artists. It supports the development of arts practice through affordable studio provision, critical discourse and space for events, residencies and exhibitions. The physical studios consists of eight individual artist's spaces along with a separate area that serves as the Project Space. The Project Space offers scope for work on a larger scale, embodied practice and experimentation. It is in this space that feedback sessions, events and exhibitions happen. We believe that critical discourse is hugely beneficial to developing a professional arts practice and essential to a dynamic arts community. Ormond Art Studios encourages members to open up their practise to peer critique and facilitates lively feedback sessions, residencies, and information/skills sharing initiatives. We believe in collaboration and connect with other creative initiatives to develop a network of support for artist‐led endeavours in Dublin and beyond. For more information please contact us at ormondartists@gmail.com Ormond Art Studios is kindly supported by the Arts Council of Ireland.
